On which bikes can the electronic brake be installed?

Our electronic brake is independent of the bike manufacturer, bike size, or frame type. It can be installed on any bike equipped by the manufacturer with V-brakes on the rear wheel.

Can the electronic brake also be used on balance bikes?

Yes, our electronic brake can also be installed on balance bikes, provided the bike has a rear V-brake installed by the manufacturer.

How is the electronic brake installed on a bike? (Is the installation complicated?)

Our electronic brake is very easy to install and does not require any extra steps compared to installing standard V-brake calipers.
One screw attaches the brake to the bike frame. Another screw secures the brake cable. Then both rear calipers must be adjusted in the usual way to ensure that the brake pads don’t rub against the wheel rim and that the child can brake properly using the rear brake. The whole process is not complicated, but we still recommend installation by a professional bike service.

Can the electronic brake be used even if the parent is riding a bike?

Yes, the remote control can be mounted to parents’ own handlebars (or alternatively to a stroller handle, etc.) using the included adapter, so you can operate it even while riding your own bike.

Will my child fall off the bike if I use the electronic brake?

Our electronic brake is equipped with an audible signal that warns the child whenever the electronic brake is activated. Using the remote control, you can adjust the braking force – it’s up to you whether you choose gentle braking or a full stop. From our own testing experience, we recommend that when first installing the brake, you try it out with your child on a flat, open, and safe area. This way, the child can get used to the sound and build the habit of responding when braking occurs.

What is the range of the remote control?

The radio signal range depends on many external factors such as obstacles between you and the child, surrounding buildings, or interference from other radio transmitters. In open space, the minimum range is 150 meters. The controller displays signal strength and will give an audible warning if the signal becomes weak.

What happens if the batteries run low?

You can check the battery level of the brake on your remote control. When the battery is low, you will be alerted with an audible signal. At that moment, we recommend recharging immediately. If the battery is completely depleted, braking via the remote control will stop working. However, the child can still use the brake normally, as mechanical braking is not affected by the battery.

What happens if the child goes out of the range of the remote control?

You can monitor the radio signal strength on your remote. If the signal weakens, you’ll get an audible warning. If the signal is completely lost, remote braking will stop working. The child can still brake independently at any time.

Will my child still learn to brake on their own if they have the electronic brake?

Yes. Our electronic brake is an active safety feature designed for crisis situations (for parents, grandparents, or any accompanying adult). It’s meant to prevent accidents and injuries in situations where the child is not yet capable of reacting properly. Parents can decide when and how to use the electronic brake. We do not recommend using it during regular braking practice, so that the child can continue developing their own braking skills and be able to handle everyday situations without intervention.

What if my child grows and needs a bigger bike?

Our electronic brake can be easily transferred to bikes of various types and sizes. The only condition is that the new bike must have V-brakes on the rear wheel, so you can simply move the electronic brake onto it. On the previous bike, you just reinstall the original mechanical brake caliper, and the bike remains fully usable. Installing the electronic brake does not require any irreversible modifications and does not affect the original brake system or devalue the bike in any way.
